Practice information: CNS, established in 1991, is an outpatient clinic providing evaluation and treatment for patients of all ages with acquired brain injuries, primarily mild traumatic brain injuries. With a team of nursing, occupational and speech language therapists, comprehensive assessments are conducted which guide treatment planning/goal setting. Detailed neuromedical evaluations utilizing 3.0 Tesla MRI and volumetric analysis, neuroendocrine studies, nutritional studies, sleep evaluations, audiologic evaluations, neuro-optometric evaluation and physical therapy/vestibular evaluations define the baseline deficits requiring stabilization to optimize readiness for neurorehabilitation. Position information: This is a full time permanent position in an outpatient setting, Monday through Friday, with no weekend clinic operations/duties. Once the PA has been adequately trained, on-call (phone) duties will be assigned for weeknights and weekends, but always with an attending MD as backup. PA, by deliberate design, will not be assigned on call duties for major holidays. No inpatient or admitting privileges required. Maximum patients seen during day 10-15.

In This Role:
- We will be looking for a minimum of 2 years' experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery as a board-certified licensed Physician Assistant. You will work under the direction of a Cardiothoracic Surgeon and within established departmental practice guidelines, this Advanced Practitioner is responsible for performing a variety of duties.
- Responsibilities will include but are not limited to pre-op evaluation of patients and preparation for surgery, first and second assisting in cardiac and thoracic surgery, endoscopic vein and radial artery harvesting for bypass, as well as bedside assisting for robotically assisted cases. Additionally, the candidate must be able to make rounds in the SICU and telemetry floor, efficiently progressing the patient toward discharge. The candidate must be proficient at removing chest tubes, pacing wires, providing wound care, general procedures utilizing local anesthesia, new consults and discharging patients as well as discharge summaries. Experience with managing mechanical assist devices including durable LVAD, Impella and ECMO is desirable but not required.
