Barry Ezell

Dr. Barry Ezell is the Interim Executive Director of the Virginia Modeling, Analysis and Simulation Center (VMASC) and Director of the Spectrum Advanced Training and Technology Laboratory (SATTL) at Old Dominion University. He has secured more than $30 million in project funding and built partnerships across a wide spectrum of government agencies. His collaborators include the U.S. Department of Defense Research and Engineering; Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate; Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency; Federal Law Enforcement Training Center; National Institute of Standards and Technology; Sandia National Laboratories; National Nuclear Security Administration; and the Virginia Department of Emergency Management. A former U.S. Army officer with over two decades of distinguished service, Dr. Ezell is a combat veteran who served in leadership roles such as commanding officer, staff officer, and operations research systems analyst. His assignments have taken him to South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and the Republic of Georgia. Through both academic and operational lenses, Dr. Ezell applies analytical rigor and leadership experience to develop innovative solutions for complex challenges in defense, cybersecurity, and critical infrastructure resilience.
