About this Program

Old Dominion University offers a Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology. This program is designed to provide graduates with the professional skills necessary to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in individuals of all ages, from infants to the elderly. Additionally, graduates will emerge with a strong grasp of ethical conduct, research principles in an evidence-based clinical practice, and professional skills necessary to become compassionate advocates for people with communication and swallowing disorders.

Requirements

What are the requirements to apply for Speech-Language Pathology at ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿?
Students entering the Master of Science program in Speech-Language Pathology should meet the minimum university admission requirements Graduate Admission.

Two step application process with a February 1 deadline each year. Admission decisions take place after March 1.

  • Apply through . All documents (transcripts, letters, essay) are to be submitted to CSDCAS by February 1 of each year. GRE scores are sent to the ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ CSDCAS code 1867. Official transcripts must be sent to: CSDCAS Verification Dept., P.O. Box 9113, Watertown, MA 02471.

  • Students then must go to the ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ graduate application system to complete a secondary application form and submit unofficial transcripts to ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿. No additional documents are needed with the ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ application.

Cost of Attendance

Tuition is charged per credit hour. Amounts shown are tuition only and do not include mandatory fees, technology-delivered course fees, course-specific fees, books, housing, meal plans, or other costs. Campus-based students may take technology-delivered or online courses. Tuition is based on student classification. Ways to Fund Your Degree

Norfolk Sertoma Club Scholarships

Several scholarships are offered each year to Masters students in speech-language Pathology. Preference is given to students who are actively involved in the ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ campus or the Norfolk and Hampton Roads community.

Tidewater Scottish Rite Scholarships

Six $6,000 scholarships are offered annually to Master's degree students in speech-language pathology. Scholarships are offered based on academic performance among the top applicants to the graduate program each Fall.

Bennett’s Creek Sertoma Club Scholarship

One scholarship is offered annually to a Master's degree student in speech-language pathology. Preference is given to a student who is a resident of Suffolk.

Graduate Assistantships

Several graduate assistantships are available to students in the master's programs in speech-language pathology and special education. The assistantships come with a semester stipend. No tuition is included. Duties include providing administrative support and faculty support for teaching or research.
